Not for everyone, but most people ;o) |
Just picked one of these up. YES - it does turn the ipaq into a bit of a fatboy. YES - it does mean that you need to pick up a new case for your ipaq (is anyone really happy with the original slipcase anyway? I recommend the flakjacket...) BUT - turns your ipaq from a standard PDA into an mp3 player, mobile doc unit, gameboy-beater, pocket slideshow projector etc etc.Only thing - if youre copying big docs to a flash card, you are going to need an alternative way to do it than the serial cable, cos its SLOOOOOOOOW. PCMCIA adapter (dirt cheap) or USB sync (not reliable, apparently).

Watch the Battery Life |
|
This expansion card is a great addition but ... if you leave a Compact Flash card in it it will drain your rechargeable battery in 12 hours even though the Ipaq is switched off. Remove the Flash Card and all is well. 64 Mb Flash Cards are the most useful and will hold oodles of e-books, maps and all the other junk we cant live without. Supposedly there is a CF modem available but they seem as rare as hens teeth like most of the Ipaq accessories.

An essential add-on! |
|
Okay, so youve paid a lot for your iPaq, why buy this? BECAUSE YOU NEED IT! Adding CFs to your iPaq turns the machine into a document storage unit and an MP3 player for those long journeys. It adds little to the size or weight of the unit and is a must-buy accessory.
